The North American Indigenous Games are an international sporting event that takes place every 4 years across Canada and the United States of America. Over 5,000 Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) youth from over 150 different Indigenous nations in both countries are selected to represent their respective province, territory, state, or nation at the Games.
Team Manitoba consists of the top 500 Indigenous athletes, coaches, managers, and team staff across 13 different sports.
The National Aboriginal Hockey Championships are an annual U18 hockey championship that takes place every year across Canada. The top Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) hockey players are selected to represent their respective province or territory.
Since 1999, the Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games (MISG) provided Aboriginal athletes, coaches and officials in Manitoba the opportunity to fully participate in their own multi-sport competition. It emphasized active participation in sporting competition for our Aboriginal youth regardless of sport specific skill levels, age and gender. competition alone.
