In Memoriam

Emma Gail Arnott

July 2, 1996 - October 29, 2021

Be Still and Know that I am God.

With broken hearts the family of Emma Gail Arnott announce her tragic early death in Calgary, Alberta on October 29, 2021. Emma was born and raised in Fort Richmond, Winnipeg along with her brother Mackenzie Guy Arnott.

She was a smart, funny, remarkable young lady. Emma had learned sign language, as both her parents were deaf, along with English before she entered French Immersion. Emma took up violin and piano, before taking up gymnastic, swimming, soccer and skating but when she started basketball that was her passion. She played on many teams - Pride, Mayhem, Jr. Bison, the Provincial and North American Indigenous Provincial Team. She qualified for many tournaments.

One funny event on our way to Colorado in my CRV. I said "I sure hope those bikers are not going where we are." Low and behold it was the Sturgis Annual Biker Rally and we were staying at the host hotel.

Emma left French Immersion after grade 8 and received a scholarship at University of Winnipeg Collegiate, where she was able to play for the University Team and continued her dream. Graduating from Grade 12 she qualified for a basketball scholarship from the University.

Emma loved card games with her Nana, particularly crib. Nana said "Emma double skunked me and had to phone my friends." Emma was always creating art projects. She sewed her dress for Manito Awbii. She was just getting into bead work. But Emma had a different plans.

Emma was predeceased by her mother Kimberly; grandpa Guy; grandpa and grandma Taylor; and great-grandpa and great-grandma Toone. She was predeceased by the love of her life Iain Fyfe. Emma is survived by her brother Mackenzie; her grandparents, Ron and Gail; her father Dennis Taylor, and her many friends and family.
