Welcoming Gini Hyatt: Our Newest Sport for Social Development Program Leader

November 1, 2024

About Gini Hyatt

Gini is not only a dedicated mom of three but also a lifelong sports enthusiast. Growing up, she played baseball and volleyball, which fostered her love for physical activity. As an adult, she has embraced roller derby and spends much of her free time at the skate park on her roller skates. An avid outdoor lover, Gini enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring nature. She is particularly excited about the opportunity to help children discover new sports and witness the joy on their faces when they participate in activities they love.

Gini's favorite ways to stay active include roller skating at the skate park and hiking through the beautiful mountains and nature trails. We are confident that her energy and enthusiasm will inspire our community members and enhance our programs.

Sport for Social Development: Empowering Communities

At MASRC, we recognize that community recreation leaders often need tailored training and resources that directly address their unique needs. That's why we developed our Sport for Social Development program. This initiative is designed to support your community leaders in achieving both personal and community goals through mentorship and specialized training.

Our program features:

  • A One-Year Commitment: We're in this together for the long haul.
  • Regular Visits: A minimum of four visits per year to your community for meetings, program facilitation, and training/certification.
  • Ongoing Support: Long-distance assistance to help with planning programs, lessons, and events.
  • Access to Sports Equipment: Resources to ensure your community can participate fully.
  • Community-Driven Programs: Training and initiatives are selected based on your community's specific needs.
  • Letter of Support Required: Participation requires a letter of support from your band's Chief and Council governance.

We look forward to collaborating with communities to enhance recreational opportunities and empower local leaders.

If you'd like to connect with Gini or learn more about the Sport for Social Development program, please reach out to her at 204-942-6615 or at gini.hyatt@masrc.com. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of Indigenous youth and communities!
