March 2 2024 - Pimicikamak Cree Nation's very own Kennesha Miswaggon has once again proven her prowess on the ice, securing her third consecutive Canada West Women's Hockey Championship with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.
As a fourth-year defender, Kennesha has continually demonstrated her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport. Her remarkable achievement adds another accolade to her already impressive list of accomplishments.
Hailing from the Pimicikamak Cree Nation, Kennesha has long been recognized as an outstanding athlete. She is an alumna of both the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) and the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC). In 2017, she proudly represented Team Manitoba in canoeing at NAIG, showcasing her versatility and athleticism beyond the ice rink. Additionally, Kennesha played a pivotal role in securing back-to-back Championships for Team Manitoba at the NAHC in both 2017 and 2018, solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with in Indigenous sports.
The entire community is bursting with pride at Kennesha's continued success, and we stand behind her as she and her team gear up for the National Championships in Saskatchewan in just a few weeks. With her determination, talent, and unwavering commitment, there's no doubt that Kennesha will continue to shine brightly on the national stage.
